JobStream, Safety and You

Jobstream

At JobStream, we’re excited about the growth of our app and what lies in store for our users! With that in mind, we also want to make sure that JobStream serves its purpose of helping users find and fill jobs while keeping them protected.

Since JobStream is a social network in that it connects people, there’s always room for bad actors to use the app for nefarious purposes and the safety of our users is important to us! Here are a few keep tips for keeping yourself and your information safe while using JobStream.

1. Keep your financial information private.

Do not respond to any requests to send money, even if the person claims to be in an emergency and report this user immediately. Never give out financial information, such as credit card number or bank information.

2. Never share personal information

You are always in control of your JobStream experience. JobStream will never send you an email asking for your username, password, home address or social security number. Any such communication should be reported immediately.

3. Spammers, Scammers and Phishing.

There are red flags to watch out for that may indicate that you’re dealing with a scammer — Be aware of anyone who:

  • Sends you messages containing links to a third-party website;
  • Quickly asks to talk or chat outside of JobStream;
  • Asks you for money;
  • Vanishes mysteriously then reappears under a different username;and
  • Asks for your address under the guise of sending documents or gifts.

4. Report suspicious users!

Please report anyone who violates our Terms of Use. Examples of violations include:

  • Asking you for money or donations;
  • Anyone that looks like they could be under the age of 18;
  • Users sending harassing or offensive messages;
  • Users behaving inappropriately after meeting in person;
  • Fraudulent profiles; and
  • Spam or solicitation, such as attempts to sell products or services.

 5. Meeting in Person

Meeting in person is an exciting first step to making a valuable business or volunteer relationship, but always take precautions and follow these guidelines to help you stay safe:

  • Get to know the other user before meeting them offline— Get to know someone through chat before meeting in person and ensure that the business or organization with whom you are chatting is a legitimate business or organization. We don’t conduct criminal background check son our users, so it’s up to you to do your own research and remain cautious.
  • Always meet in public— Meet for the first time in a populated, public place; never in private or remote location, and never at your home or apartment.
